Meet Tom Staats

Tom Staats coached basketball in youth leagues and High Schools in Wichita, KS for over 30 years, producing dozens of future high school and college basketball players. Tom coached his Biddy Basketball teams to 3 National Championships in the 12-13 year age group – only 6 Wichita teams have won the National Championship in the history of Biddy Basketball, half of those being Tom’s teams.

In addition to coaching, Tom was an integral part of the administration of the Wichita Biddy Basketball program for over 25 years, which served over 2,000 area youth athletes. This program helped in the development of many professional players in various sports, including Barry Sanders with the Detroit Lions NFL team, Darren Dreifort with the Los Angeles Dodgers MLB team, Maurice Evans, who recently retired from the NBA, and current Kansas University stars Perry Ellis and Conner Frankamp.

Tom was also involved with the Biddy Basketball program on a national level, serving for 10 years as the Assistant National Director of Biddy Basketball, headquartered in New Orleans, LA.
